Make Your Own 19″ Rack Cabinet! (Easy DIY Project)

OK this is something I’ve been considering for a while… a set of instructions to make your own rack cabinet!
In essence it consists of:
- 4 pieces of sheet material (top, bottom, 2x sides)
- 2 rack strips
- Rack nuts and bolts (if you don’t already have them)
- Optional feet
- Optional – some sort of finish
Tools Required
- Tape measure or long ruler
- A saw of some kind – a track saw/plunge saw is ideal, but it can be done with a circular saw. I Probably wouldn’t suggest using a Jig Saw (they’re not easy to cut in a straight line) but I would recommend a good hand saw.
Clearly you need to decide what height (ie, how many U’s) you would like, as well as the depth. Typical depths are 300mm, but of course it depends on what you’re putting in your rack.
If you’re interested in some detailed plans and guides to building your rack(s) make a comment below, or email me mike@homestudiorack.co.uk – and I’ll put something together.
